I graduated! I finally did it. I graduated a semester early. Most importantly, I achieved my goal. I didn’t want to have a cap and gown ceremony because it wasn’t important to me. Instead, on the last day of school, before winter break, I received my diploma from my counselor and I have never been so proud in my life. I accomplished something that was very important to me. All the statistics out there about pregnant teens not graduating high school… I was determined to beat that and I did.

After I picked up my diploma, I went to my next class and showed it off to everyone. One of the girls (one of the few who I guess did not know I was pregnant) called me out in the middle of class and drilled me on why I wanted to graduate early. I wished I would have had the guts to say, “because I’m pregnant,” just so I could see the look on her face (because it would have made me giggle)… but I didn’t. I was still too scared of everyone judging me. (I was already showing at this point so I have no idea why she was oblivious to the fact I had a baby bump.)

Later in the sameclass, I was studying my diploma with a huge smile on my face, and I felt a flutter in my belly. It took me a second to figure out what it was and I realized I had just felt my baby move for the first time. I could not have asked for a better graduation present.

This picture was taken about 3 weeks before I graduated but you can see the baby bump starting…
