I had my first ultrasound when I was 12 weeks preggers. The doctor’s do an ultrasound between 10-14 weeks to make sure the due date is correct, to check on the baby’s growth, and to check for down syndrome.
It was my mom, Zach and I that went to the appointment. I remember being excited to have an ultrasound but I had no idea what to expect other than what I saw on tv. The worst part was having to drink a ton of water before the ultrasound to make sure they got a good picture of the baby. It really sucked, and I seriously thought I was going to pee my pants throughout the whole ultrasound with her pushing on my belly.
So we go into the room, I lay down on the table and they squeeze this jelly on my belly. (Some places are nice and warm up the jelly but this one was freezing.) The ultrasound tech put the thing to my belly and up pops a picture of our little baby. At 12 weeks, I could actually see a clear picture of a little head, body, arms and legs. It was pretty funny because the baby’s head was as big as the body so he or she was top heavy. It was pretty amazing being able to see this mysterious thing that was continuously growing inside of me.
Zach later told me he got all chocked up when he saw our baby during the ultrasound. I didn’t even notice because I wasn’t even paying attention to anything; I was just so fascinated with seeing the baby for the first time.
After seeing the ultrasound, I walked out of the office actually feeling kind of excited about having this baby. Scared but excited as well.
This is what I saw…
