Both my mom and I were sitting in the car. We had just arrived at the hospital where these birthing classes were taking place that were being provided by TOPS. I was mad at Zach because he couldn’t come along since he was working. My mom and I arrived early but I didn’t want to be the first to arrive in the class. So we waited. I didn’t want to go to these classes. I was uncomfortable being around anyone because I was scared of what people would think, if they would judge, if I was going to have the stuck up teens in my class and if it was going to feel like high school all over again, just everyone is a lot more hormonal.
We waited. I remember telling my mom, “I don’t want to go. I don’t need these classes. I will be fine.”
My mom told me, “Go to one class, you can see how it is and if you don’t like it you won’t have to go again. At least you will know what it is like.”
We saw one girl get out of a car, who was pregnant, and her boyfriend who I assumed they were part of my class. I watched the clock pass time and my mom finally broke the silence. “Shall we?”
“I guess.” I was not very excited. We got out of the car and walked to the classroom where they were having the first birthing/healthy pregnancy class. There were only three other girls in our group. My mom was able to come in because she was my support team since Zach was not able to come. Class started, and I loved it! I mostly love the people who were teaching it. Colleen and Anne made the class fun, funny, interactive. They never judged me and I never got a bad vibe from either of them. They felt like they wanted to be my support team as well. I left with more information and wanting to go to another class. I actually looked forward to going to the next class. And being able to take Zach when he was able to make it.
I started birthing classes/healthy pregnancy classes about a couple weeks prior to these pictures…but literally, in about a month or so my belly grow big time.
